In 1955, the GREAT SENIORS of 1967 gave their first performance in the Rhythm Band under the direction of Miss Eula Witty and Mrs. Jessie DuBois. The actors and actresses performing that year were:
Charles Adair, Marsha Wright, Johnny Witty, Joyce Richardson, Linda Downing, Harry Worley, Ronnie Rowe, Junior Jackson, Jerry Littlefield, Tim Webster, Phillip Owens, Gary Christensen, Roy Crowder, Laurel Harding, Mike Gault, Sam Roberts, Dolphyne McCullah, Kristi Morris, and Richard Hart.
In the Second of our reign on Broadway the Rhythm Band was still a thing of the time with no new performers.
In our third year on stage we presented the performance 'Garden City' in which the same performers starred.
Garden City remained on Broadway the following year and five new characters were added to our cast:
Mike Parker, Bobby Kitchen, Glenda Niehus, Judy Buzzard, and Don O'Daniel.
In the fifth year of our reign on stage we presented 'Roe's Fifth Symphony' with the following soloists:
Vinita Brewer, Patty Lippert, Pat Donohue, James Burch.
The sixth year we were still tootin' our horns and poundin' our drums. We were needing help and drafted three new members:
Douglas Whitney, Quentin McGhee, Janey Moye.
As we were entering our seventh year in our reign on Broadway, we presented our first serious play, 'Peter, Pumpkin Eater.' In this year's harvest we gathered several new actors and actresses:
Becky West, Linda Currey Robertson, Chris Blaine, Larry Ramsey.
In our eighth year we took a vacation from the stage and began a 'round the world tour.' On this tour we picked up several new celebrities. Among them were:
Billy Crawford, Janice Merrit, Charles Williams, John Proctor, George Huggins, and Dean Bowman.
After returning from our tour we moved to Hollywood to begin our ninth year on stage together. Our smashing hit 'Onward Grove' was a grand sell-out. In this production the spotlight was on:
Donald Francisco, Ronald Francisco, Donna Hilliard, Colleen Hubbard, John Kelly, Roger Rose, Pat Dainty, Erma Rouse, Sharon Ryan Beal, David Elbert, Larry Bradshaw, Judy Seabourn, Janit Hilliard, Jerry Hudson, David Rountree, Ronald Hadley, Joyce Austin, Lou Ann Whipkey, Carol George, Jody Jackson, Jimmy Martin.
Our tenth year ended the 'Wilson Reign.' This was a time of sorrow for us but we managed to retain our spirits. We added three new members to our cast that year:
Ronnie Powell, Donnie Powell, David Herschbach.
Our eleventh season brought much excitement with the Mardi Gras Ball. The Ball gave us such fine entertainment and entertainers as:
David Schumacher, Diane Riggs, Ruth Ann Kniffin, Steve Nichols, Bill Henderson, Don Shero, Juanita Fenner and Martha Icenogle.
In our 12th year nine celebrities joined us to help us make our final production the greatest of them all. They were:
Karen Perry, Darrell Blizzard, Janey Blizzard, Roger Frakes, Marceen Smith, John Baldwin, Mary Ann Baty, Tim Snow, and Lloyd Barnes.
During 'That Year That Was' the Senior Class had the most outstanding football, basketball, and track stars, and the greatest school spirit. They had the best looking boys and the most beautiful girls. They had the prettiest queens and the smartest students. They had the greatest sponsors and the most ambition, the most outstanding Senior Play and the best yearbook ever. In all this is the largest and GREATEST senior class Grove High ever survived. Now as we retire from this stage we leave it to the Jr. & hope that they play the Sr. Role as well as we did.
